A people-centric transformation
At the core of People Sustainability is the well-being of our employees. We want to make sure they are valued for their contribution to our success. Our People Sustainability Pyramid sets the course for our people-centric transformation.
We want all of our people measures to put human needs at their core. This means every action we take, every day, should take into account their impact on all people who interact with Beckers – whether employees, customers or others. Only by considering this impact can we build a solid foundation for a people-centric business.
In 2021, we held several workshops to review our progress in People Sustainability. For Beckers, this means treating our employees – or anyone who connects with Beckers – in a sustainable and responsible manner. In our workshops, we developed a way to put this into action – the Beckers People Pyramid.
The People Pyramid is built on the “hierarchy of needs,” a theory developed by the American psychologist Abraham Maslow. This motivational theory lays out the needs required for human well-being, which leads to self-actualization. We took it as a foundation and translated it to reflect our own values. The idea is for the entire company to take a journey towards sustainability, connected through the different layers of this approach to people-centric transformation. Each layer (see picture) addresses the fundamental needs of the people who interact with Beckers every day.
