in 2024
By 2030, we want our operations and supply chain to make a positive contribution to sustainability.
Operations with Impact
Our aim is for our operations and supply chain to have a positive contribution that promotes resource efficiency and circularity. It is crucial for us to have suppliers that are aware of our expectations and requirements regarding their sustainability performance. By working together with our supply chain partners, we can ensure that our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our company and into our wider value chain.
“Our increase in use of renewable energy is a key milestone in our Climate Action strategy.”

Emissions reduction
In 2024, we achieved our previous target of 55% absolute emissions reduction by 2030, having reduced our emissions by 58% at the end of 2024 compared with 2013. From 2024 onward, VOC emissions are excluded from Scope 1 to align with the GHG Protocol and SBTi guidance. Even with emissions from VOCs included, we achieved our target set in 2020. This progress was achieved through initiatives across all our sites to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and make our processes more efficient. As part of our commitment to net-zero by 2050, we set new targets for our near- and long-term emissions reductions, with a new base year of 2019.

Renewable energy
Our renewable energy usage increased in 2024, marking significant progress toward our 2030 Goal. Several sites acquired Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs), contributing to this advancement. Additionally, we took steps to reduce natural gas consumption and successfully integrated biogas into our energy mix.

Responsible sourcing
We surpassed one measure of our responsible sourcing target by engaging with our key suppliers and continuing the dialogue regarding environmental, social and governance performance through the use of a third-party assessment tool.

Efficient resource use
Managing our resources in the most efficient way requires a holistic approach that involves assessing our processes, the equipment we use, and reliable data measurement and reporting. Many of the raw materials we source are both limited and can be hazardous when not properly managed, which is why it has been on our agenda since before sustainability was an established term.
Supply chain sustainability
We are dependent on our suppliers to join us on our sustainability journey to both mitigate negative impacts and create a positive social and environmental impact. This requires due diligence, relationship-building with our suppliers, and ongoing dialogue on our material topics.
