We take a strategic long-term approach to sustainability with many of our original goals remaining at the heart of our vision today.
Looking back to see our future
To further strengthen our sustainability efforts in our business, we established our 2030 Sustainability Strategy in 2020. The strategy gives us focus and sets out our ambitions. Below are some of the key milestones on our ongoing transformation and how we continue to work with sustainability.
From aligning the definitions and language around sustainability to pioneering industry standards and launching groundbreaking sustainable products, our journey is driven by innovation, engaged collaboration and sustainability integration.
2024
- Launch of Green Lights Strategy, integrating business and sustainability.
- Committed and submitted targets to the Science Based Targets initiative.
- Appointed our first Chief Sustainability Officer.
- Opened our FutureLab with state-of-the-art R&D capabilities.
2023
- Third-party verification of the BSI.
- BSI relaunched.
- First commercial UV/EB coating brought to market.
- Safety Leadership Experience workshops rolled out.
- Started roll-out of Climate fresk trainings to customers and employees
2022
- Introduced Mental Health Programs.
- Initiated an allyship program to work toward our Diversity Equity and Inclusion goals.
- Achieved our 2030 Goal of 70% renewable electricity.
- Established the Beckers Good practice Knowledge Hub.
2021
- 2030 Sustainability Strategy implementation with workshops and action plans for each site.
- Sustainability governance structural change with adding additional members to the global teams supporting our strategic pillars and Beckers Sustainability Council.
- Sustainability targets launched as part of our short-term incentive program (STIP).
- Introduction of a Community Engagement Commitment.

- Conducted stakeholder workshops.

- Established Beckers’ Loss Prevention Standard.
2013
- Established our Beckers Sustainability Committee (BSC).
- Coil coatings created with bio-resin.
2012
- First GRI Sustainability Report published.

- Hired our first Global Sustainability Manager.

- Defined our “sustainable products”.

- Started using the four system conditions and the Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development to help us define our boundary conditions.
